MC ESCHER

This mural was installed at Elsewhere Arts in Greensboro, NC. This project is an amorphous recreation of MC Escher's drawing "Relativity." The challenge in this work was to incorporate historic anamorphosis or forced perspective techniques often employed on cathedral ceilings in the Renaissance with Escher's complementary ideas of impossible reality. While at the site, the viewer can enter into these combined mathematical drawing illusions, enhancing the distortion of both approaches and making the viewer's point of view a necessary part of the piece. (View of painting from the sweet spot on the top of the stairs. When viewed from the sweet spot, the perspective aligns with itself.)
